Across the Sea, United by the Ride!
Malta Chapter joins the Etna Chapter family in Acitrezza for their 25th Anniversary Celebrations.
Finally, the much-anticipated weekend arrived… and what a BLAST it was!!!
Our bond with Etna Chapter has always been strong, so celebrating their 25th Anniversary had to be something special. And you can bet we made sure Malta Chapter played its part!
A crew of over 40 people, riding more than 30 bikes, set off from Malta, crossed the channel and headed towards Acireale on Friday morning. The vibe? Absolutely TOP!
From Pozzallo onwards, we took command of the roads, holding perfect staggered formations. Organised. Disciplined. Fun. Low on difficulty, perhaps, but we made every kilometre count just the same!
First stop: Route 115 in Syracuse. We love that place. The fact that they sell Cisk beer is, of course, a mere coincidence! 😁
Laughter, shopping, chatting, vanity time… and, oh yes, how could I possibly forget the beer?!
Next stop: Archè Fine Dining. Because, you know, kilometres tend to make you hungry! A perfect setting, with the restaurant opening exclusively for us. First course, second course… another second course… and, yes, ANOTHER second course! Then came the sweets, coffee… and probably a few very satisfied stomachs!
After that, it was off to the hotels. Yes, hotels, plural! We had to split the group. Sicily, it seems, is still not quite prepared for a proper Maltese invasion! 😁
Friday evening was simply fantastic. The setting at the petrol station in front of the dealership was spot on. Despite the rain clouds threatening overhead, nothing was going to spoil our fun. Drinks, food, amazing company, great music… and some very interesting entertainment (personal opinion, of course)! 😁 ….. Again, Malta Chapter made sure this eveing was burning with all positive vibes possible!
Then came Saturday… and, well, Saturday was a little… DIFFERENT! VERY WET!!! Yes, the weather gods decided to grace us with their presence, and not exactly with a blessing of sunshine! Plans to participate in the Etna Run went south, and most of us ended up absolutely soaked. But hey, isn't that all part of the proverbial fun? You can't have a proper riding adventure without a little drama along the way!
Saturday evening brought us back to familiar territory: aperitivo, dinner, drinks, food… Does any of this sound familiar? 😂 There were hugs, presentations, great company and plenty of memorable moments. Oh, and yes… we also managed to raid the hotel bar! Some traditions simply cannot be ignored!
Sunday morning arrived at a very, VERY slow pace. A couple of hard-core souls, however, decided that a little physical exercise was still in order. God bless their souls… because they surely needed it! 😜
At 10 am, our Director delivered the briefing, followed by the usual vanity time, and then it was back on the road, this time heading towards Ispica. A couple of fuel stops later — fuel being coffee, naturally — we reached our final destination: La Tegola.
Here, I must formally register a note of protest and considerable frustration. WHO, exactly, thought it was a good idea to take us somewhere filled with curtains and other diabolical traps?! Some of us were clearly being tested beyond reasonable limits! 😂
After a long lunch, it was time to head back to Pozzallo for the return crossing to Malta.
The fact that most of us managed to squeeze in a well-deserved nap during the choppy journey home says it all. We had given the weekend everything we had. And every single bit of that energy was VERY WELL SPENT!
What an amazing Chapter. What an amazing family. And what an amazing weekend!
These are the occasions that remind us why we ride, why we travel, and why the friendships we build through H.O.G. mean so much. Different shores, different roads, one passion and one big family.
